The collection contains papers of William B. Burke from 1887-1964, including correspondence, clippings, photographs, and manuscripts. The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence from Burke to his son, James Cobb Burke, who was a student at Emory University, and describe his daily life, his friend Bishop Arthur J. Moore, and Sino-Japanese politics, including his arrest and capture by the Japanese. Other letters are from Burke to his wife, Leila (1936-1941), and to his younger brother John (1887-1893). Articles were written by William Blount for the NORTH CHINA DAILY NEWS and by James Burke, a photographer-journalist, for TIME-LIFE in the Far East; other articles relate to James Burke's 1964 death in the Himalayas. Photographs are of William Blount in China. The manuscript draft is of chapters of James Burke's book, MY FATHER IN CHINA (1941).
